Sony RX1 - Macro

The RX1 has a dedicated macro mode. How good is it?

Although prints can be made where the subject is indeed much larger than life size, the RX1 doesn't possess true macro capabilities in regards to the ratio of the size of the subject to the size of the image captured on the sensor.

With that said, here are a few test shots for you to judge. The dime, battery & SD card, I put the RX1 on a tripod and focused as close as possible. The shot of my son sleeping is a little further back. Full image, followed by a 100% crop.

ISO 100, F2, 1/100s, off camera flash bounced off ceiling

My personal conclusion is that this more than satisfies my macro needs. I like to think of the RX1's macro mode as more of a close-focus option.
